Had to use the power washer on the dog today.

I don't use the pressure washer on the dog but today I had to. Twice a year I organize a ride through the Jemez mountains, Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Madrid, and back to Albuquerque. It's about 180mi round trip and tends to be alot of fun. Today we had ten bikes including some nice customs, a few with dealer plates on them, and my Dog. On the way through the mountains we got stopped by a DOT worker, he said it was a one lane road and we had to wait for traffic coming from the other direction. When we left following the pilot car we learned out they were sealing the road with that oil crap. It wasn't that bad as we were riding on the side that was already dry until around a couple of corners where the wet stuff ran across the road. We were traveling only about 15mph but it still made a mess. It got on my forks, the bottom of my front fender, my foot controls and everything on the front of the motor, my primary and coil cover, and my rear fender. The bag I had on the sissy bar got covered but kept it off my back.

I used some WD40 to scrub alot of it off but some of the areas around the oil filter and between the fins on the jugs I sprayed with the WD and let it sit for a few minutes and then used the pressure washer. Most of it came off.

The other thing I learned is that my Dog is not as wide as the Harley I am used to riding so when I set the digital camera between my legs while riding at 50mph it falls right through and hits the road.

I did get stopped by a sheriff but I will leave that story for another day.

I'm a fiend when it comes to my ride being cleaned/detailed for my next ride,so this would really "piss me off"!But,shit like this happens, and this how we usually find a problem by doing a major detailing.Keep riding brother!

:angry:That sucks. Of all the laws this great country of ours has (most need to go away) but we need a law that prevents the DOT from putting tar on our bikes and cars. It sucks to get that crap off.:bang:

PS At least that down tube sticker protected a small portion of the paint!

As an X DOT employee here in the great stae of Washington, if we fuked up like that people would file a claim against the state for damages/detailing to make it right. They didn't pay every claim, but if there was 10 bikes that all came out like that... they may pay.
Somebody screwed up..........and I would be Pissed.

It was a fun ride. The scenery is beautiful if you slow down to see it. A few areas we go through are where they filmed the movie Wild Hogs. It is always fun when you ride through Madrid with 10-15 bikes and the tourists look at us like we are the Del Fuegos!
