Black bikes are a pain to keep up, but here's a process I've found that seems to work well:

After your bike is clean, use a clay bar system to go over your paint (I use Meguiar's, but there are many others).

THEN use 3M #39009 glaze...WOW!:2thumbs: It says it's for orbital buffers, but it works well by hand too!

3M? Perfect-It? Foam Polishing Pad Glaze-Dark, 39009, 16 fl oz, 6 per case

I follow that with Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax, but again..there are many out there, and everyone has their favorite.

Also, a couple great metal polishes I've used are Victory "Windshield, Paint & Chrome" (use on chrome & aluminum) and Victory "Awesome Metal Polish" (works great on billet aluminum without the mess of other polishes). These were suggested here on previous threads..I bought 'em, used 'em and love 'em!

I've tried 'em all over the years, and these are the ones I'm staying with!

ps- it should go without saying, but keep your bike covered, even in the garage, when not you're not riding it...helps keep the dust & grit off it!! :)

I use Zaino products and have always had great results. I started using their stuff back in 1987 when I bought my Buick Grand National (Black) and have continued to use it. This product can be used out in the sun and takes out all of the swirls in clear coat paint. I am just saying, others may use other products that works good for them, this one works great for me.

Oh yeah, one other Meguiar's product I forgot to mention that works really well on those "tougher" scratches/scuffs, is Meguiar's 'ScratchX 2.0'. It'll take those seat suction cup marks out without breaking a sweat!

I'd slip that one in the process (as needed) between the clay bar and the 3M swirl remover glaze, then finish with a good wax.

And that's about as good as it gets, unless you'd rather take it to a professional detailer and spend a couple hundred bucks on a full detail job.

ps- my next project (before/during winter down time) is going to be to polish the triple trees and engine again, then ZoopSeal the billet aluminum.

Zaino is the absolute best. It also gives the bike a mirror shine. I use it on all of my bikes and cars.

What is the Clay Bar system?
trainguy, the clay bar is a solid bar about the size of soap. you spray a slippery chemical like soap on the paint, then rub the clay bar on it. it removes all surface contaminants like sap, road dirt, overspray etc. it basically gives you fresh paint to start with and it works very well.

Meguiar's, Mother's. ...most all detail product companies offer a clay bar 'system', which typically includes a couple clay bars, detailing/application spray and a micro-fiber cloth.

I'm a huge fan of Zymol products, especially the paste waxes. They're pretty expensive (around $50 - $60), although the estate glazes can get up in the hundreds.

I use to work detailing cars/trucks/vans ect for a painter when I first got out of school. He swore by the stuff, and that was 27+ years ago.

A bud & I had a little detailing business 10 years or so ago and thats all we used. Besides, with 3 BLACK vehicles (Volvo wagon not in pic) and a black trailer .... I have plenty of practice

I used to sell Zaino out of our Vette shop outside of Chicago, nothing better in my opinion.

While I'm a big fan of Meguiar's, I'm always open to finding a "better", easier to use polish and have been curious about Zaino. Does Zaino only offer paint care products or do they have billet aluminum polish too and if so, has anyone tried it? Thanks!
