Just scored a starter.

$259.00 shipped ... HD wanted $500

check it out - BIG DOG RSD STARTER 2005 & UP and W/BAKER DSSC NEW : eBay Motors (item 360252333536 end time May-04-10 07:53:15 PDT)

What u think??

The starter came with a 1 year warranty.... I thought that was pretty good.

speedealercustoms - seller

My contact was Jason ... seemed pretty cool and helpfull.

So far Im $259.00 in the bucket

As long as i can find someone that'll put it on for less than $700 ... I can get a better deal than HD. F them!

Got a quote $160.00 to put it on.
$259.00 part

$419.00 - total.
$1000.00 - HD price

$581.00 - saved with 1 year warranty!!

Really is fcuked up.

Good Deal! :2thumbs:

Put it on yourself!

It's simple! 2 bolts, 2wires, and hopefully you can just fish it out with the exhaust still on! :2thumbs:

yah sounds pretty easy ..... one of the shops i called said im going to need some gaskets .... is that true?
Do you have a service manual? That and the combination of peeps on this site and you would be amazed what you could do.

Gaskets or O-rings?

The o-rings may come with the starter, if not, if the old ones aren't damaged, I'd clean and reuse. :2thumbs:

Word to the wise..... If you can, be sure to bench test it before you install it. Sucks to have to pull it all out again. If you put it in your self I believe you will need to remove some oil lines and don’t forget to disconnect the battery.

No service manuals online for downloading. But you can do it, without that. It's all pretty much straight forward. :2thumbs:

You rode it there, right?

Then go get it ASAP and ride it back home! :2thumbs:

Pretty sure its a O ring. when you get the bolts out you're gonna swear that there are more holdin it in. Ya just got to keep pullin and wiggilin on it and it will come out. Depending on your pipes if you have 2 in to 2 it will be easier if you remove the rear pipe. And don't let anybody tell ya ya got to remove the primary cover it's not a HD or earlier model BD.
Jus do it Dawg !! :2thumbs:

Get a brass cap for that oil line so you can pull it off and cap it while you work, that way you don't have to drain all your oil. Or just plug it with chewing gun like I do :)
