Going to replace the EHC

Hi Big Dogs,

after having some trouble on my Mastiff 2004 S&s 107 with my fried EHC and maybe fried TH Ignition I decided to replace them both. I have two questions according that swap:

1. Does anybody know if there is still a promotion code on the WP374 ? Where to order ? Directly at WP ? What is the code ?
2. Are there any used Thunder Heart Ignition moduls for sale ? Maybe some have upgraded their Ignition ??? If not, is it possible to take the 2005 and later modules for a 2004 Mastif ??? ....single fire...double fire .... What has to be changed ? I saw a 2005 and up Ignition on ebay for 80 $, and also a 2004 for 165 $.....

Let me tell you somthing now. Save your money and energy and aggravation. That EHC Module and the electrical wiring on these big dogs when big dog did them SUCKS in plain english. EHC Modules go constantly and each time there $350.00. Your best bet is to do what I did go and have the bike completely re wired using HARLEY COLOR CODED CLIP IN wiring and just get a drag specialties ignition switch and hell w/ that EHC Module and Big Dogs wiring cause the only thing it should be used on is a MEXICAN STYLE CHOPPER.

Hi Doug,

thanks for the recommendation ! But I want to keep my BD Handle bars. As far as I know it is not possible to keep them with HD electric. Also the tach is not working with that stuff I heard. How did you solve these problems ? I also saw much cheaper EHC's from several catalogs for custom bikes that even should work with BD handle bars but not with the tach. But as far as I read here at BDBiker it is the best to replace the EHC using the WP374.

Theres no reason you cant keep your handle bars the speedo / tach attach right to the bars depending upon height of the bars it'll go over or under. Mine fits under the bars and looks real good of course it cost me $500.00 though also. Look at Dakota Digital Speedos and Tach's. May be a little less cause I ordered mine through a bike dealership and you know they jacked the price up a little. Still was well worth the look it adds to the bike

Andy, I bet you have noticed the Wire Plus delivery takes like 6-8 weeks + shipping to Germany.
BDM replacement seems to be the same…
In worst case you are looking at missed season unless you hardwire the bike...

Hi Tapio, you might be right with the lost season !!! I called already BDM Performance Parts ! They do the EHC Replacement kit only starting from 2005 ! Don't know why, but they recommended to take the WP374, because they said it is the only kit that works on my 2004 ! Any other kits do not work together with the Tachometer I heard ! Just want to keep the bike mostly original.....

Andy. I need to see inside the plugs. If you can take a photo looking into the end I could tell you quick. The one in the photo looked like it but I can't tell how many wires ran to each plug. And to make sure they are shaped the same.

The factory tach is stand alone and will work with any any type of wiring. Tach gets signal direct from ignition module...no matter what brand it is.
Same with the speedo...it gets signal direct from trans sending unit.

Hook red power of tach and speedo to +12 volts
Hook black of each to ground
Connect tach wire to ignition module output wire
Connect speedo signal wire to sending unit

Good to go...

Oh...2004 ignition module is different from a 2005-2011 module.
2004 is cam pickup and 2005-11 is a twin cam/crank sensor style.
They wont interchange.

Well thanks ! Any information helps !!!! As far as I understand it would be best for me to stick to standards, what means in this case, TH Ignition of 2004 and the WP374. If anyone could tell me where to buy the WP374 more quick or cheap and quick it would help much ! I saw a promotion code for the WP374 weeks ago, but I cannot find it again in the according threads ! Does anyone know the code ????
