Getting started with repairs

After a few weeks of pain meds and rehab I'm finally feelin better after my near death experience with the cell phone lady. Make a long story short, she was a michigan driver and they have "No Fault" coverage. I'm sure sum michigan riders could explain this better than me. Her insurance is picking up my massive medical bills to full extent, but I'm ganna end up in a court case to get them to pay for the damage to my bike!! I spent the last two days sitting in my garage with a buddy of mine who's been a miricle for me on this project being I'm still on crutches and a full cast on my leg. Then to make things worse, I was taking sum pictures of it to post here with my wifes new Cannon SX10 and dropped that bitch on the concrete and broke it!! Ive kept it hid for a day now till I get down to buy a new one, but if she finds that, I'm ganna have another cast!!! So anyway, He helped me get the damaged tins off and front end off and got to where we can try to see if she's still ganna run. It fired up and purred after a weird sound when you hit the starter. It was a grinding noise comming from the primary. Sounds like the jackpost was either not fully engaging, or maybe the flywheel was might have a busted tooth, or teeth! We shut it down and tried it about 5 times in a row, and it made the same sound everytime, clunkin and then she'd fire. It was laid down on the other side and she hit me from the front end left side so there was no damage to the primary at all, but something happened!! Guess this should be a minor detail being that it still starts, but it will have to be addressed! Any insight from y'all would help. Guess for right now I'll be scourin ebay for some cheaper parts to get me up to par being this is out of my pocket right now till we go to court, then after my blood suckin lawyer get his cut I'll see how much I get out of this. Get my cast off in four weeks so Ive got some time to get her going! Thank god for good friends, Id be sittin here staring at it if it wasnt for them!! And thanks to all ur good comments and well wishes from you guys, it helped alot!!! And I just saw today that Marv is selling the pipes Ive dreamed about having for a kick ass price!! Glad I didnt have them on when I got tagged cause my Big radius are scrapp metal now so that will just be another huge cost in the mounting number of parts to be replaced!!! That home gym is awsome as well! My brother has the same one and luvs it! Thanks again brothers

I wish I had more money.
Glad to hear that you are on the mend. Pull that primary cover and give it a look. Try to turn it over and see exactly what the sound is. I might be something is out of alignment with the big hit.

By the time I get up to par with my injury's, I'll have to go to rehab from all the drinking and pain meds!!

sorry to here of your troubles, dont understand the no fault ins covering your medical expenses but not the bike, if she pulled out in front of you or hit you then she IS @ fault, if the ins dosent pay for all of it then I'd give the cage driver a chance to pay if still no then yes its time to take matters further, besides court start w/ a few finger being cut off, see if thay change there mind, & so on, cant describe the detales but had a incodent where a driver was driving down the wrong when side of parking lot, driving on left, this has been a long time back & not w/ my dog, but any way when i went to go around the girl she then decided to get back on the correct side, laid bike down, leo said privet property & no line in the lane & no contact was made & it wasnt her fault, gave the owner a chance to pay for repairs thay said no, I was pissed to say the least, gave it about 8 monthes, needless to say every vehical thay had in drive way somehow spontaneously combusted into flames it was only 4 vehicals, & a garage, I have friend too, Oh did i mention the leo was friends w/ the cage driver!!!! the parts that wer damaged on the bike cost around 1500.00 was it worth it, for me YES, I',m sure ther ins then paid for all there replacements, not my ins company, fuck um do what you have to

Ya I agree Eric! Insurance company's are bullshit! I could claim the bike on mine but damn, you know what they'll do then!! My buddy who's helpin me runs the local Harley shop here and between him and me we figured over $6000 in parts and that with us doing the work, and not the paint included in that! I went and got a good lawyer and decided that route first. We are going to try the legal approach. If that doesnt work that I'll get the biker bible out and go that route. Its almost disheartin how shit unfolds! Lucky to be alive, they paying for all the medical, but now I have to figure out on my own how to pay/ repair a jacked up bike! Being out of work going on two months now with 80% pay doesnt help either! I cant ride with a cast right now so I'm not that upset, but it was almost 70 degrees here the other day and all I heard and seen was bikes, and then a bunch of my buddies come riding up to see me that evening on theirs and that sucked, but it was good to see em! Either way Ive already firgured I'm not get any cash before I get my cast off, so I might as well try to do what I can to at least get it going to ride while waiting to see what I get out of the court case.

good to hear you're on the mend Brent. As the boys said take a look in the primary and see whats what. If its anything clutch related I might have some stuff I could donate if my 05 stuff will fit on your bike.

Glad to hear you're well enough to start fixing the dog! Hope you finish before the cast comes off. If not, stick a wheel on the the bottom of that busted-ass leg and take her for a spin anyway! :D

Thanks guys. Not sure what will fit from an 05 on a 02 pitt. Ive got a pretty long extensive list. From a whole new front end, to rim to trees to handlebars. Thats off right now. The frame is straight and true, no bend or breaks thank god. The 107 didnt sustain any marks or damage, how that didnt happen in the slide i dont know. I think the pipes scrapin across the pavement helped. But my new forcewinder snapped off at the elbow, less than a year old Big radius are done, right side of my tank is flat, right and left forward control are both done, rear fender is cracked with a chunk missing, coil cover has a big scrape in it, not sure but I think the tow truck flatbed had something to do with that. A witness who came and saw me at the hospital said they put it on the bed and laid it down on the left side of the bike on the bed and strapped it down. Dumbass, think they would of laid it on the damaged side!! But good dude though! Total stranger who saw it came me at the hospital!!! But ya long list of expensive parts!!! Most sad over my pipes and intake!! Just put them on last summer!!!

Unfortunately thats the way it works in michigan. Our no fault policys will pay for our bike but not the other persons. However that would stop me from making a claim especially if its not my fault. Your insurance company will pay for everything on your bike then they will try to sue the ladys insurance to recover those costs.Your insurance shouln't increase that much in a no fault accident. I made a pretty big claim last year and it raised my insurance $13 and there wasn't any one else involved.
