Gas Cap

My son BYRDDOGG has a 07 K-9 and a little while back he sent his gas tank back to Big Dog to be repainted. When he got it back, they replaced the cap with the new screw till it clicks top. He can be going down the road and it will just shut off. no gas. You can open the gas cap and it will run fine for a while and then again it happens. Its loseing the vening in the tank. Any suggestions.

He may have gotten a Kalifornia cap, it's not vented. But that only means pulling it apart and removing the valving.
