Is it safe to run some kind of fuel Injection cleaner like Seafoam through the system?

Was using costco gas. I saw the intake valves begin to carbon up. Changed to Shell. Got around to seeing the valves again and they were spotless with no buildup. They add a chemical to react to the carbon buildup, right? Chevron probably has the same makeup; no one steps on patents.

So you look at gas as a cleaning detergent. Injector cleaner won't help with knock on a hot day... ask me how I know? I run a shot glass to 5gal. Rubber breakdown, and epoxy damage inside the injector body is what has what chemical to react to said items? If it starts right up, it's says clean spray holes. Don't waste the money, switch to either gas if not running either now.

And if it starts right up, does not fall on its face, and you ARE running a techron kind of chemical in the gas... See? Why bother.

So I assume everyone so far feels it is safe to put into the gas tank. It won't mess up the lining in the tank, and won't mess with the injector? I know some of the better grades of gas offer a cleaning agent, but sometimes you need a bit more?

Yes, safe. To be super safe, take an old oring made of rubber, even a rubber band, drop it in the shot glass, come back in a day. Swells... nix the fix. What is left is to send them out to a place that cleans and tests injectors, or buy new w/orings and all is peace of mind.

It's all about a clean hole. 3 circuits on a carb and once vacuum begins pulling, it pulls from all 3 equally. Clog one its hard staring, long starting before firing, lost pep, better gas mileage. So back to a simple diagnosis... Touch the starter button. Did it fire right off and purrs at idle? Then there is no injector hole needing to be physically open with a needle point/etc.

Thanks Sven. I just wanted to be sure. I didn't know if an injector needed special attention.
