Fuel Flow Issue

I have an 01 big dog husky. I recently had to strip the inside of the tanks and reseal them. The seal is holding up great and not flaking anymore. I have cleaned all the lines out and cleaned the filter on the pepcock. I added a new glass inline filter to see what was passing through the fuel lines and into the carb. The bike has started to die due to lack of fuel. I have been watching the in line filter and sometimes it will fill all the way up but will not stay full and will empty all the way down to about a 1/4 of the way full. Then it will go empty and the bike will die. If you let the bike sit for a few seconds the in line filter will fill back up with fuel. I recently replaced the caps with two caps from drag specialties.

Any ideas?

Get rid of the inline filter some of the dogs cann't handle them or try a pingle inline...lots of threads on this...do a search I think you will find your answer...peace...you might do a intro also.....:2thumbs:

Also try loosening your fuel cap to see if the cap is not venting and not causing a vacum.

I have removed the gas caps to see if the fuel would flow. Still no fuel. I have checked all the vents to make sure they were clear of any debrie. We removed the carb and opened the petcock and fuel come gushing out of the tank and the line that feeds the carb. It never stopped flowing at all.

We also took the carb apart and cleaned it up. Wasn't real bad. We are going to put it back together but I don't believe this is going to solve the issue.

Is it possible that there could be something wrong with the petcock? It is the original one that was on the bike when it was built.

Any other thoughts or ideas?

Take the inline filter off, if it dies you have a tank vent issue...

Do the same with the caps on and see what the flow is like. I agree with the others, many have tried the inline filters and most can't keep up with the motor especially those cheap glass see through ones.

If your going to use a in-line filter...you might want to try Pingel.
I have been running the Pingel filter for over 3 years now and never had a problem with it keeping up with my motor...even at WOT! :2thumbs:

Wasn't the petcock in place when you did the flow test with carb off? If so, then not the petcock...
