One of the old ones.
This open primary was on the bike when I bought it, and has about 20,000 miles on it. It has a new clutch sleeve and pac of discs, and is complete—ready to install. The outer bearing support is called the Gillette. The Karata primary is not made anymore, but Karata does have most parts to support existing owners.
Also included is an extra 4” drive belt for it, and changed it recently after an unfortunate incident on a gravel road while riding the Three Sisters in TX. The original one has a few small but unsightly holes from a few pieces gravel.
It has a few small imperfections, but the only flaw is a scrape on the lowest part of the OBS that hit the concrete when going into a driveway, but that polished out pretty well and is not noticeable. The clutch sleeve in the photo has been replaced since the pic was taken.
The open primary does take your bike to the next level—it is easily installed and requires very little maintenance. Of course no oil. It does make a whine, which many think sounds like a supercharger-some don’t like it, but I did.
