Forward Controls Explained

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I'll pose a question.

I've always seen forward controls listed for 84-99, pre 2000, 2000 and up, Dynas, softails, and the list goes on.

Have held several controls in my hand and couldn't tell.

Was wondering if anyone could explain what those differences are.

I've got a 2003 Mastiff (soft tail), it has a two bolt mount for the brake side, a three hole mount for the shift side. Will any two bolt & 3 bolt (respectively) work or are the different styles spaced out differently?

Googled for some pictures and came up with nada.:bang:

You need 84-99 forward controls.

LDO! Hey man I got the lenses thanks a ton. I think the forward and Mid controls are diferent because of where they are mounted. Like the forwards are mounted where your and mine are. The mids are mounted on or around the midle of the engine. like to the lowere primary or so. Kind of like this little sporty.Yahoo! Image Search

Thanks Roman but I'm still curious what the differences are in all the other forward controls out there that list different years...
