I'll give my two cents here, and a bit of history.
The politics/religion/racists rules enforcement came into play when the Secret Service made a visit to my house about a thread gone bad... it reached the point of a death threat against Obama, and I was facing a federal subpoena. What some of you may not know is the buck always stops with one person, and when it comes to Big Dog Biker, I'm that person.
So, if any other members feel the way TKbulldog05 does, you can leave. I'm not violating anyone's constitutional rights... this is a private site OWNED and paid for by me. I don't care to have any form of law enforcement showing up at my house again.
Second, I understand frustration and a new member coming here and venting, shit happens. What becomes a problem is if all that member does is vent and bitch. We are all grown-ups and should know there are constructive ways to post your problems, list as many factors as possible, and ask for help. When it becomes a pissing match it does no one any good and increases the likely hood of great information being missed because a thread goes way off topic. Venting once in a while is fine, just don't make it your way of interacting with the members. This also goes with businesses/vendors/BDM, if there is a problem that arises and you can't make it right with that entity, feel free to post it here but don't go off on rants just to rant, it gets old so fast.
I've only asked for two things here, respect everyone and interact as if you were face to face. It's expanded a bit due to the LEO issue I had, but the basics are still there.
And to address the issue of jumping someone's shit when they ask for help, cut the new guys some slack. They may have reached absolute frustration with their Dog. Telling people to sell their bikes because they don't know how to fix it is completely against why BDB was started. I'm fine wrenching on four wheels but their are differences when coming to two wheels. Give them a break and try to help them or lead them in the right direction with searches. We all learned somewhere.
Intro's, some people like them, I could care less as I usually don't do them. But everyone has their likes and dislikes.
Lastly, a bit of advice for new members, take a bit of time to get to know the other members, as much as you can from a forum. See how they interact with others. They maybe a smart ass and you could easily take them the wrong way, which leads to problems. If you are unsure, PM that member and get clarification. Taking a conversation to a private medium is far better then doing it in public. In most cases, there is a misunderstanding some where.
The bottom line is the less rules, the better. The few rules we DO have in place are there for a very good reason.
