Forks-Procrastination pays off this time

With 25,000 miles on my K 9 the left fork started to leak. Took them apart last night and still have the copper coating on the bushings!!! I couldn't believe it. I've been putting off replacing the seals, etc. and was half prepared to buy new tubes. The bushings are starting to wear a bit in one small area. I'm going to go ahead and replace them.....might be another 25k before I take them apart again!
I know most tear into the forks at 10k and every 10k after. Guess I got lucky this time...

Followed gas mans tutorial and rebuilt the forks over the weekend. I had previously bought a seal kit that also included o-rings and washers. Got the bushings for $12 (Drag Specialties), and put everything back together on Sat. Went for a short ride yesterday and, knock on wood, no leaks!!!
Next time I will at least change the fork oil at 10k.

What oil did you use, 30W or 20W?

I used 30w. Read several posts of members going lighter. Seems most of them switched back to 30w. Too much rebound and an unstable front end.
