I searched this site and the owner group site for any info on changing the oil in the forks. As you know I have a K9 with the standard frontend. Does anyone have a "how to" or any advice on changing the oil or should i follow the shop manual. thanks

Ray should have a step by step layout for you.
I just did it for the 2nd time. I could do it in my sleep but I am more of a hands on and hard to tell someone how to do it.
My Advice: Just dont take a breathe through your nose when you do it. I dont know what Big Dog uses for oil out of the shop but that stuff was as bad as Rotten Eggs

I don't have any photo's of doing the forks. Gonna have to get Gas Man busy this weekend!
Narrow37, if you need the procedure out to the manual just yell.

Later,

Ray, thanks for the offer of the manual but i have the 2007 version. was just curious if there were any tips for the oil change. like do you really have to take the wheel off and should i replace the copper washer(ie. crush washer). Also for every one, a little explanation of my user name. i love Kevin Smith movies, especially "Clerks". theres a part in the movie that explains my name even though the number is at the beginning. here is said clip, hope you enjoy.

Don't peeps change out bushings and seals when they do it? I probably will on mine when I do it...

Sul, your way is certainly one way to do it and one way that one of the techs at my dealer said to do it. this is how my shop manual says to do it. the washer that I was talking about is number 33 on the diagram.

very true Sul...

I have always at least replaced the seals... cause they are so easy to leak. But maybe that is some sportbike mentality from wheelies....
