first road trip on the dog...

so im leaving tuesday for my cousin's wedding in austin. my pitty's got about 800 miles on her now and it's time i get her paws dirty. i'll be driving out from santa fe and heading down 285 to i-40, then down us-84. it's going to be my first time out to that part of texas, so that'll be cool but of course the week im leaving is when god decides to fuck with me and turn what's been beautiful weather into monsoon season. :bang: oh well. i think im pretty well prepared (knock on wood). if anyone has any good recomendations for food joint's or sight along the way, then feel free to throw em at me. either way im gonna try and post some pics along the way.

the wedding's in austin. which is only about 750 miles i think. then im gonna head out to las cruces which is about 600+ miles then head back to santa fe which is another 280 miles or so. should take me about a week or so.

sounds like fun! im really wanting to take a good road trip like that on my bike. seems like all i do is work though! the wife and i did get to fly out to phoenix from okla to pick up her new car, that was a pretty nice road trip.....

so i just got back a few hours ago... fuckin awesome. seriously, it was a great ride, but of course my dumb ass forgot my camera. i was gonna pick up a disposable but never did. had a blast though. the scenery was great and the roads were nice, and actually the weather was perfect. it rained the first day out of santa fe, but after that not a cloud in the sky, until i got back in to town.

i took my time over the first couple days, stopping in towns, bullshiting with the locals. then i got to austin and partied down pretty good. i had to stay an extra day just to recover from the hangover. on monday i drove for 12 hours straight, from austin to las cruces. a nice testimonial to how comfortable the pitbull is for a rigid. she performed like a champ. i even got into an accident in early texas. this chick slammed on her brakes in front of me and i did the same and skid right into her bumper. big ass front tire absorbed the hit, not a scratch on the bike. her car, well....
gotta say all in all a great trip.
