Finally myy dog has some bite

Well finally i have my front end sorted and on the road and to those following the story so, far moving the triple trees to a 0deg rake (triple trees from a Duce)with 12 overs makes it very ride-able indeed.

So for the last 2 days it has been ridden at every available moment even to the shop for a loaf of bread.

To those that assisted me over the past 2 months and big Aussie thank you.

While riding today my flashers (indicators) decided to take a vacation and so far have not returned, now i have to hold the buttons in to get them to work in the past and the right side will "click" but the left has no noticeable "click at all.
That said yesterday the left on stayed on as it should the right one (should be the good one) had to be held in as usual.
Now today while out attracting the local cops both decided to leave me.

Any ideas Gents??????????
Q. Is this the beginning of the end for my EHC, the bike only has 1000 miles on it?
Cheers
Jeffm

So what your saying is it could be a moisture problem that caused it, What do i do to fix it (remove pressure pad and spray stuff on it).
It has had 5 days now to dry out and still no joy, so i guess i will have to do a bit of a strip down.
So i guess no one thinks it is the EHC that is on the way out?????

Was the bike in the rain?
Did you wash the bike?
Do you keep it on a trickle charger?
How old is the Battery?
I missed your front end story, did you change out the front end and were they working prior to. If so start checking connections.

OK, I'll bite on this. What was wrong with 3 degrees in the trees.

My Ridgeback rides better than my Bonneville America with 33 degree rake which feels floppy.

Additionally, I have been in some bad ass rain in Louisiana and haven't had an electrical issue. I am just say this for info.

Had to get bike spec'd to get registered in Australia so had to give it -7.5" of rake an put shorter tubes in, now registered i needed to raise the front to allow me to get into my driveway and the 0Deg is to not look so obvious to the local Fed's.

Yes the bike was in the rain.
No bike not washed.
Trickle charge???????????? Why???
Batt is new.
Yes front end has had a bit done and connections could also be the problem, but they did work for a while.

If you read in your owners manual your bike drops a percentage of the battery everyday. Most issues on here stem from weak batteries or electrical connections.

If you ride everyday and I mean everyday, chances are the battery would be charged daily, but if is sits a couple days or a week, hook it up to a tender.
If it worked ok after the front end work, but since that time its been in the rain, the hand controls or the electrical connections might have moisture in them. By any chance when you did the front end, did you shrink wrap the electrical connnections or use any di-electric grease on them to keep moisture out?
Just my .02

Low batterys do cause wierd things to happen:(

Ray and Ker, the connections were pulled at the motor/frame side not the bars, i traced the wires and could not see a problem, so i pulled them apart and sprayed some anti moisture shit in the conection. this did not change things, i have checked bulbs, but the switch block or PCB control in the hand control does not click like the flasher PCB on the right side, i am presuming that could be the issue.

So do all Dog's have an issue with water??
What if i install a WP, do they still have problems with H2O??
IS there anywhere i can get a PSB L/H control?????

Thanks for having someone to bounce my stupid questions off guy's.

Aussie Jeff,
The stock speedo and handlebar swithes don't like the water. The EHC is water tight as are all the little grey wiring plugs.

The battery tender is a good idea, since it will insure a good vigorous throw whenever your ready to go. When the bike is warmed up, it always starts. The batterys don't last long on BDM, a year max with a tender.

The WirePlus conversion is a great upgrade since it allows you to start the bike without the headlights on.

Older switches didn't click but the newer ones do so don't look at that as an issue. If you want to order a new board for your controls they are available but I would if that's not the issue with your bike.

Don't believe all that stuff about water. I've ridding in horrific storms along with Knotso and other members here. Water in the hand controls won't kill your bike. One thing I would do is if your bike hasn't had the BDM update on the EHC then do it yourself. Pull the two plugs being very careful. Remove the seal and fill with die-electric grease and reinstall.
If you did the front end I would re-check all the connections especially those under the tank. There are several there for grounds and loose connections.
Merry Christmas to you down under :2thumbs::cheers:

Jeff, my thoughts on the battery tender is "if your ass isn't on it, the tender should be" been doing this for 20+ years and always get my moneys worth out of a battery.

There was a recall way back that replaced the boards in the hand controls but this should not effect your bike, but something to remember if not buying new.

Look in the How To section for Gasman's dielectric connector fix, basicly keeping all the connectors covered in grease.

Good Luck.
