Ethanol Mixed Gasoline.

Dad and I were out the other day(78 degrees) and we stopped for gas. I noticed that the Dogs watering hole was now using a 10% ethanol mixture. Now the 2007 owners manual says that a 20% mixture is ok as long as it has an 87 octane minimum. I checked the 2008 manual and it says that a 10% mixture is ok as long as it has a 91 octane or higher. My question is....

1. why the difference in the manuals.
2. what are the causes to our engines from the ethanol mix fuels.
3. what will we do when the only fuels we can get are a higher mixture percentage

Been running the 10% at 93 Octane out here for a while now. No problems. The big players here are the cagers. GM, BMW, Mercrappy, and Audi have all come out against mixes above 20%. Say the mix will be distructive to their vehicles -- way more of them on the road...

On of the Techs (Shane) at the BDM factory told me to stay away from any fuel with Ethanol in it as much as possible.

So I never buy it. The Walmart here in town shows that their fuel has a 10% mixture of Ethanal in it and everytime my co-worker fills his Trailblazer up on that fuel his check engine light kicks on and off during that tank of gas.

I burnt up my RD350 in high school running that shit! They called in Gasahol then, same shit!

I got to admit it was in 1980 with the “gas shortage” and I am sure it was more like 20% or more, cant remember too much because of Hippy’s hobby then. I do have photos of the pistons some place. I think Gas has a good point and I think this is an effort to get us in the right direction. I love the “I would be more worried about the sand in your gas”!!!! Fucking great point!!!

I retract my first post because of past results. Hell, we been to the moon! Oh I forgot my History book in Jr. High in Florida (1976) quoted, with a picture of the moon “One day we may venture as far as the moon”. WTF?

Datz wy me so stuped!!!

Truely guys... trust me on this... you WILL NOT avoid this forever. My company alone is spending millions upon millions to be a big player with this. The govt backing is insane. My company right now in Metro Detroit is one of the largest players with it. We have railcar and semi unloading at 1 facility and they are always hoppin. It alone employees a guy to do nothing but unload this stuff his whole work week. Further, I know that Marathon refinery in River Rouge (just south of De-toilet) is finishing up their massive rail car unloading project. But we are also installing a 3 rail car spur at our new facility we bought off Exxon Mobil. It would be able to handle as many as 30 railcars at a time.

And almost every truck rack terminal in the state is putting in ethonal blending.

On running the stuff. Basically I figure I run it everytime in everything I own. And everything runs fine and always has. The only things that its doing is cleaning everything. If you have a higher milage motor that has never ran it, yes you may have problems the first few times being its like achohol and will clean the shit out off the anything. sure it may also play hell on older style rubber gaskets and seals. But nothing newer...

I would worry more about sand in your gas than this stuff.

Remember, I'm not Gas Man cause I fart alot!

I was hoping you would chime in on this GasMan. I knew you would give us some insight on the matter.
