Engine shiuts down at idle

"06" K-9 with PDM and XXX carb mods. Recently have been experiencing the engine killing at an idle, never an issue while riding. Usually after riding it for a while and stop to park/turn..... It does not hesitate or sputter it just dies and can be restarted immediately without any problem. Any thoughts?

Shooting Blind here.... but.... Have you tried to adjust the Idle Screw in the Carb? Has its spring enough resistance so it does not backs out by itself with the vibrations?

I also vote for idle speed screw. One day I cranked my mastiff and the idle RPMs were low enough that the lights on the speedo were blinking but the motor never completely shut off. I didn’t have any tools with me and had already shut the garage door so I just rode it like it was. After about 20 minutes I remembered I had a pocket knife, so I used that to turn the idle back up to normal I barely had to turn the screw at all. Rode the rest of the day like normal. The next day I cranked it up and the idle was high, had to get out the knife again and put the screw right back where it was the day before. No Idea how it changed but easy to fix and hasn’t changed since.

You may have some trash in the engine idle mixture screw. Turn it in until lightly seated counting the number of turns then screw it all the way out. Take some carb cleaner and spray down into the hole, then replace screw and adjust back to your original setting.

Thanks to all. I have adjusted the idle screw and confident it is not the issue. I also turned the mixture screw in and back out a coupe of times hoping to clear a possible junked-up seat to no avail. I will remove it completely and clear with a carb cleaner as suggested. What is the standard setting to start at with the XXX--is it about two full turns out after seating it it and adjust from there as needed? Thanks again, Al

I don't know on the xxx carb, but 1 1/2 to 2 sounds like a good starting point.
