Eliminating rear brake light switch?

Hi all,

I am not a fan of the way the rear brake light switch looks with the wire coming off the top of the caliper. On my Harley, I eliminated the switch when I re-did my brake lines to keep things cleaner. (I always use the front brake along with the rear brake, so the brake lights still light up the same with or without the rear switch.)

I'd like to do the same thing on my K-9, but I am not sure how the stock EHC would interpret things if I just cut that wire and use a normal banjo bolt on the caliper.

Anyone done this?

Thanks,
Paul

To eliminate the brake light switch just because of an appearance issue dosent sound like a good idea. What if the front switch fails? I would suggest you move the switch to a less conspicuous location by installing s tee fitting in the line someplace. Good luck and ride safely.

The timing of this is ironic. I hate having the switch on the back caliper and am planning on moving it to another location with a tee.
I literally called Eric at HDM last night to find out how long the rear brake cable was so I can start planning this.

PLEASE don't eliminate the switch -- the redundancy on a motorcycle is important. We have 2 separate brake systems for a reason. As mentioned if the front system fails it could be diasterous.

As for the EHC, it would not notice (the switch is an open circuit till trip by pressure, therefore it is not "detectable" till in use. -- there weas no warning/error etc when my wires broke on the switch last year) But please do not for your safety and others DO NOT REMOVE SWITCH

I’ll spare you the lecture, since you didn’t ask for opinions on if you should or not.

The EHC will not know it’s gone.
