Hello All! I have a problem that I hope someone can help with! I suspected that I had a bad battery and in a attempt to verify it I stuck a different known good battery in my 2006 K9 when I went to hook it up the horn started blowing, lights came on etc! I immediately noticed that the battery that I used had the posts reversed, basically for a few seconds as a result the wires were reversed red on neg, black positive. NOW when I put the correct battery back in the bike it does the same thing as when it was hooked up wrong! As soon as I try to attach the wires and cables it blows the horn, lights come on with the key off! What in the hell could I have done, I only had it backwards for a second? Thanks for any help in advance! AND yes I know i'm a friggin idiot for not checking the posts on the loaner battery!!

It should have thrown a spark as soon as you tried to hook it up backwards. Many things COULD happen but I would charge your battery and load test it and put it in the bike with a full charge

Have brand new battery, full charge and load tested. When I try to hook it up the horn blows, light on, speedo pegged at 120 and key off!

Son of a B--ch!! I tried to connect the wires with the switch on and same thing cept this time a bunch of smoke rising up from under the battery box! So word to the wise NEVER cross your wires for even a second! I have no idea what to do now except rip out all of the CRAP BiG DoG wiring and start over!!
