Electrical wiring help...

I put some PIAA driving lights on my K9 not too long ago. I am wanting to change the switch for it. So, I got a two button and toggle switch unit to combine my stand alone air ride, the PIAA driving lights and my Boogie light LEDs. The PIAA lights have three wires, white, black and red. The switch I want to connect it to only has two. :bang: Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

There are no wiring instructions. I am thinking the 3 wire has to be positive, neutral and ground. I was just hoping someone had done something similar in the past.

Just be careful tapping into the wiring harness. There are enough issues already with the EHC and electrical grounds. You know how much a new EHC will cost you!!!

Can't you just run it off the battery and not have to mess with the wiring harness?

Thanks for the advice guys. I contacted the manufacture and they told me to not use the black wire and I should be good to go.

Oh, and I ripped the EHC out and went with a wire plus harness. If anyone needs a slightly used EHC let me know.

HELL!!! You can hook those lights up just about anywhere you want then if you don't have the EHC!

On most three wire switches the third wire is the ground for the light "IN" the switch (an indicator that the lights are on).

That's correct, the black wire is more that likely for the little LED light that's on the switch itself. If you were to hook that one up to the ground and turned the switch on, the light on the switch itself would illuminate.

FYI, On a DC system there isn't a Neutral, only + / -
