Electrical problem

I have electrical problems with my 2004 chopper, I turn on the key and get nothing, only running lights and neutral and oil lights come on, no horn no turn signals no brake lights, I see 1 yellow light on what I assume is the ehc, I have tried 2 new batteries, any ideas ? Well go do an intro ,
However, a few things to start with.. check the headlight harness the stock have been known to melt , i would also check the pcb boards in the hand controls, from there may want to check the ignition switch and all wiring.
A good multimeter to ensure you have continuity throughout all wiring. Look for and frayed or loose connections .
Hope this helps. It’s been awhile since I have ran the stock ehc but there are allot of other very reliable replacements out there. I wouldn’t assume it’s your ehc 9/10 times that is the first thing people blame

Hard to diagnose with this limited description. I also have 2004.
You turn on key - what is on - what doesnt work??
You hit the run button - what happens - light blink etc??

I would guess that maybe the run button isnt resetting the EHC - no tach sweep or 4 way flash -
if so then might just be the board on right hand control, or possible it just pulled out of the connector - as they seemed to try and save every inch of wire they could when they built these things.

Provide some more detailed info and I'm sure we can figure it out - whatever it is is fixable

Thanks to all of you for the advice !! I'm by NO MEANS an electrical wizard !! I checked the headlight today and everything looks good, but I decided to replace the bulb anyway !! I saw somewhere about an led bulb that puts out about 3 times the light that the stock ones do ! Does anyone have any suggestions on replacing the bulb with a simple plug and play ? Tomorrow I will try the other things suggested ! If I have to replace the EHC I'm leaning toward the R.I.P. replacement for $650 from BD since it seems to be an easy plug and play system ! I hate to spend so much and am hoping it doesn't come to that but if I have to ! Any thoughts or suggestions on this !!

Another good kit is axels unit sold through wild steed worx. Not familiar with the rip kits

I would still check pcb boards, definitely check the wiring something may be grounding it out look for frayed wiring and use a voltmeter to check continuity. Also check the jst connections as it could be a loose pin.

If you do need to replace the EHC, you can get one still. Plug and play for sure. Better than tearing out your wiring for another kit. Wildsteedworx sells the EHC cheaper than the RIP kit.

At this point, not sure what your comfort level is? I would pull of tank and unplug all JST plugs - to handlebars-etc

Sounds like either you have a short or bad computer.

Then would plug one in at a time - plug in -= unplug - go top next - until you see what works-doesnt. I found 2 shorts in mine - one from tach ring that melted entire way back to connector under tank, and another i found with turn signal wire.

Both these direct shorts impact other components and make you chase your tail.

All I can say is if you know how to take the bike apart - use volt meter - then unplug all and plug back in testing one at a time - headlight, turn signal, turn signal, high beam, brake lights, tag light - until you find one that doesn't work when it is the only thing that is plugged in - then ohm out why??

Did computer send 12v - is there ground??

Check ur cam sensor too. Mine went bad, same symptoms. Good luck.
