While several hundred mile out, I had a series of odd things.

here is the symptom:
pulled into a McDonalds for b-fast, shut down bike normally.

After eating, when out and stuck key in and everything in the speed housing seemed to be flashing. Pushed run button, nothing but flashing. Turnerd it off and tried it again. Same thing. I tried moving the gear change foot lever and bingo, it did it's normal strtup flash and settled back down.

Rode to Starbucks to meet up for the ride, wne in had a coffee, can out and same this happened, speedo flashing (I don't think the headlight was on or flashing. Tried the shift lever, didn't work this time. Endied up holding down some buttons (turnsignal, run, at same time as turning on key. well, again, I got it to get to normal.

This went on all morning. and it appeared to take something different each time to get it to get to the normal state of a regular turning on the key.

Finally, I seemed to find the golden combo. hold down all buttons on the left grip (turn signal, low beam, horn) and then turn on the key. It seemed to so something and them the horn honked, As soon as the horn honked, I let up on the buttons being pushed and it was ready to pust run and start buttons like normal.

This seems to have fixed it as it did NOT recur the rest of the weekend.

So, anyone have a clue as to what was wrong? And the button pushes as the key gets turned on probably have some "special, secret" purpose.

Any comments on this? ANd I have never had any electrical issue before.

Just another great weekend ride on the Mastiff. 250 miles Sat and 500 miles today.

theft deterrent??????

sorry for the sarcasm but ................
HAHAHA, it would have been classified as a theft deterrent. All I kept thinging about are all the ECH horror stories. I kept trying and just got lucky.

I have one of the disc lock alarms that was surpised to have been made for BIG DOG, well, it would not go over the rivets that keep the disc to the center. So it's useless. I think I will get a scorpio (or is it scorpion) alarm with the proximity sensor. It can page you on the keychain if someone gets too close.

Hit 7500 miles on my 09 today, and I love the bike more each day.
