well....
with all the problems this bike has given me over the years ,i started out with a short trip,1 mile:) (youve got to understand that the last few times it died on me was a few blocks from home!)then i got bolder and went on a 8 mile round trip! no problems, wire plus module seems to be workin good,,feels good to riding the dog i loved and paid so much money for without so much worry!
so i go home suit up(still kinda cold here)and hit the road for a 30 mile round trip to the "big" city around here, make it there no problem, on the way back, about 10 miles from home, it happened!!!!!!!! just cruizin down the interstate about 75, bike pops and surges,,,my heart just sank...bike started running ok and i continued my ride, then the bike pops like its out of gas,but i just filled it up,so i grab for reserve anyway, bike dies,i really thought it was fixed now....was cussing wire plus as i was coasting to a halt, until i got to looking at it...... and figured it was a fuel problem. i had no tools with me,but between the semis trying to blow me off the road id twist the throttle and couldnt hear fuel squirting. so im pissed, full tank of fuel, but none getting to the carb, and no tools. out comes the cell phone,of course,i cant get a hold of any of my friends,so i call the girlfriend, she cant drive the truck and trailer,or even hook it up for that matter, so i tell her to come get me, then ill have to leave the bike there,go get the truck and trailer then hope the bike is there when i get back!
i hang up the phone, put the seat back on the bike, and in my frustration, grab the handlebars and shake the living shit out of the bike
i sit on the bike, and for shits and giggles try to start it, it fires up! i look behind me to see if there is any traffic and floor it onto the interstate!i bet i didnt go any slower than 90 till i hit my off ramp, pulled into the driveway, sat there with the bike idling, then it dies! just made it home!!
to make an extremely long story shorter , after checking out the bike the pingel petcock is the blame, its only working when it wants to,ive never had one apart before, but mine is making a "rubbery" noise when you turn it, so i figure an o ring or something is blocking the fuel no matter if its on ,on or reserve.
never be so quick to condemn something untill youve had time to properly check things out! the wire plus seems to be working well.
now a new cock will be $105:(

My 2004 Ridgeback had a bad Pingel on it. I got straded no less that 10-12 times before I figured out that the petcock was bad!!!!

BDM sent a new one to my HOUSE with a RA to send the old one back to them.

That was the olden days!!!!

Sounds good to hear it is back on the road and looks like you should have all the bugs out now!

You can buy rebuild kits or send your valve to them. No need to replace it.
too late!already ordered one

and now that i have it off the tank and in my hands,,,,it doesnt seem to be bad,but when i pulled the fuel line off the petcock , and put on a new line and ran it to a jar to see if fuel was flowing, i was getting nothin!!i had to move the lever back and fourth quickly just to get a dribble.
now i dont know what to think

You had your Petcock in your hands???

Sorry, you stepped into it!!!:D

The insides of the petcock get messed up and, like mine, when turned to reserve, wouldn't let any gas flow out.

So do you think it waw that the whole time and you didn't need the wp?
OH>>>NO NONO!!
id lose electrical power when the ehc and or its counterparts would mess up, with the petcock i still had electrical power
the new petcock lever moves so freely if a bug hit it while riding it'd move it, the old one you have to use a small amount of force to move it,and it sounds all "rubbery" while moving it.

I hear the ethanol in the fuel is wreaking havok on the rubber fuel lines and carbs these days. I haven't had an issue yet but expect it will happen soon enough. Might put a new rubber line on while you are at it... if it is not flowing that is.
