What does EHC stand for? Every search for the acronym brings me to posts about bikes having issues with it and people wanting to replace it.

The EHC module has had its problems over the years. Some due to the EHC design itself and some to harness connections, aftermarket add-ons and inexperienced service work. Not everyone has problems with the EHC.

With all that said the EHC can be replaced by an aftermarket product named Wire Plus and another option from Bigdog themselves for the later model bikes all for around $500.00.

If you find a Bigdog you really like for a good deal you won't be sorry. Make sure like anything else that it is riden and checked out by a knowledgable person.

Good luck & welcome to the forum.

If I'm not mistaking in 03 or 02 and prior they used a diff.EHC which does not have the same issues as the "newer"brand.I could be talking out my ass though.

I'll go with Hippy, Good Idea but a piece of shit that never goes out at a good time.
Don't include the 03 models in the good ones (if there were ANY)..
OL's had 2 EHC's before we did the elimination.

would be curious to see a poll. maybe big dog make and year and whether or not you've had problems.

In surfing this site it seems like most of the problems have come on bikes from 04ish to around 07.

I've got an 08 pitbull and have been lucky enough not to have any issues so far. knock on wood.

"What" there's already a thread/Poll out there with the results of how many have had EHC problems. I know I've voted on it. I'm one of the lucky ones who's still on a stock EHC, but i have a wire plus standing by for when the time comes...

Certainly my wish the at all the ECH's never go out again on anyone else again. When mine quit, it shut down like cutting the switch off and I was 60 miles from home , in traffic, running about 80. with a 12 inch shoulder on the road. Really I am glad it is over, and replaced. Thanks again Jake,

I'm pretty sure it's been said before,by guy's who know waay more than me about these bikes.Starting with 03 Big dog's,they did away with thunder heart EHC's and came out with their own Big Dog EHC.Not saying that any EHC is good, but that seems to be the start time of numerous ehc probs.
