EFI V and H baffle removal

Here is a couple of questions for you EFI guy's that removed your baffle (or 1/2 of your baffle). Does the EFI malfunction light stay on? Or does the computer have to be rebooted? Does anything have to be rejetted?

Here is a little backround on my situation. I was out riding about a month ago, and on one of my V and H pipes, one exhaust stud broke and the other came out. Needless to say, the exhaust pipe seperated from the engine. I was about 20 miles from home so I rode home gently. The EFI light came on, on the ride home. Since then I cut my baffles in half. I got out yesterday for a ride and the light is still on. I only rode about 15 miles, so I dont know if this will clear itself, or not.

Thanks in advance for any advice or help

I put in BCT QQ baffles in the V&H 2-2 pipes and have not had any issues. More than likely the S&S Module picked up an out of site fault from the O2 sensor (Assuming you have them) when the pipe fell off and turned the light on.
You'll need to ride farther than 15 miles to see if it relearns itself and clears the fault. I'm not positive the fault codes will reset themselves. If not then you may need to have it done by the dealer.
My guess is you don't have the serial cables and Pro Tune II software from S&S to attach the VFI module and a computer to look at it. The software you can get from S&S website for free but it takes a serial cable and possibly a serial to USB adapter to connect to your computer to look at the data and DTC's. You'll need a service manual to compare the values on the software.
Now there's a possibility that if you disconnect your battery and reconnect then follow the sensor reset instructions under your seat (if you have them) will reset the sensors and may turn the light off. The sequence is: I think it's after reconnecting the battery turn switch on hit run (do not hit start) then turn switch off for 15 seconds then back on and hit run again. Don't quote me I'm going from memory my bike is in storage.
Also there is no rejetting it's all controlled by the S&S VFI module. Only two choices are available to make map changes 1) Replace with a new S&S module (that is not locked for editing) with a new map from S&S. Not sure if your is Delphi or Magneti Marelli. 2) Replace module with another vendor. Nomad has put a Thundermax on his and has very good luck with it.

I was told by bdm install the pipes and 02'S and ride the bike 60-100 miles and the computer will self adjust; I have no baffles and no light on

Hi guys. Hope i'm not hijacking the thread, but, please can somebody say for definite, if i alter the standard supertrapp K9 EFi exhaust [i.e. take the restrictors out], will the EFi system automatically adjust the fuel delivery to suit? In fact, if i put V&H Big Radius on, would the EFi system adapt to the different volume of air being drawn through the engine? OR, do you have to part with many dollars for some chip/eprom upgrade? Thanks.

Roughrider.

I have removed the baffles from my V&H 2 into 2 pipes and have had no issues what so ever with mapping or driveability of my 08 K9.

Its a little throaty at idle, and will make your ear drums pop at Wide open throttle!

I have also cut my baffles down to 4.75 inches and have no issues with any warning lights or problems.2008 K-9 EFI runs great.

Took the baffles out and installed Big City Thunder QQ baffles and a few other mods bike sounds and runs excellent. No Check Engine light.
