Go Fast, Go Faster
I've been uncovering some good data while rebuilding my 2001 107 TP motor. If any of you have these Big Dog Edelbrock heads, here are the OEM flow numbers to reference. I apologize as I could only obtain data up to a .600 lift, so any of you with a higher lift cam just guestimate that your flow will be slightly higher at max lift of the cam.
These heads also have raised intake and exhaust ports and the chamber shape is different than the "regular" Edelbrock heads available to the general public. From what I've seen on these heads and in speaking with Branch, the only added improvement would be to fine tune the valve seating and un-shroud the valve areas. Other than that they are designed very well, even with the rectangular intake port / runner.
Interesting fact: Wink Eller used to run these specific heads on his drag bikes at upwards of 15:1 CR, the design of the head lends itself to reducing detonation. If you want to buy the matching dome pistons for these heads to raise CR, JE Pistons has Wink's specs in the computer. You'll have to order 4 pistons though since their machine only does a min of 4 per run. I decided to use SS flat top pistons and deck heads to raise CR.
The heads on my Dog came with the 92cc chamber model that had been decked to raise CR. I further decked them down to 83cc, and am having the valve areas un-shrouded by Branch. The final CC of chambers will be 85, 86 or 87 CC based on Branch's best judgement for final static and corrected compression given my cam shaft specs.
