Dyna Beads causing tire failure?

I've used Dyna Beads for years in my motorcycles. I just called a local shop to see how much they'd charge to put a new tire on the front of my wife's 06 Mastiff and the guy went on this rant about how balancing beads were meant for OTR trucks and they'll eat the inside of a motorcycle tire and have caused tires to explode on guys while riding long distances

I used them in my race bikes and know several who did the same. I've never heard of a motorcycle tire exploding ever--dyna beads or not. I'm sure tires have exploded on guys before, but being CAUSED by the beads?

Anyway, has anyone heard this before? This guy literally told me he wouldn't put them in the tire when he mounts it due to liability reasons. I think he needs a new attorney, but that's another discussion...and yes I found another shop but this is a very well known local bike shop in Denver.

Have not heard of it.

The tread will wear out before that happens. I think it would only be an issue if someone runs their tire way beyond its service life. And at that point it's not the beads fault

I will take a pic of the inside of my front tire next tire change. Going to change it out after the KS run has about 8k on it now.

Will have just shy of 10k with Dyna beads when I get back

I never heard of any problems, just tell the shop not to balance the tire and put them in later at home

Have you ever done that? I'd rather polish the bottom of my motor

Sure, I do it all the time, only pop the bead on 1 side and dump them in and air it up, or I use the tube and bottle and they run in thru the valve stem in minutes. I guess it helps if ya have one of these though

Yeah.. u should use that to polish that thing.. and as far as the beads, nope, never heard such a thing.

Sure, I do it all the time, only pop the bead on 1 side and dump them in and air it up, or I use the tube and bottle and they run in thru the valve stem in minutes. I guess it helps if ya have one of these though

And the valve stem method is brain damage...I found out that holding a hand sander against the tube helps kinda vibrate them in but it still takes FOREVER.

i have heard this same thing before from several different shops. never have heard directly about a tire exploding, always been hearsay. seems to me that the only way it would happen would be if the bike ran in a completely straight line and the beads always made contact with the same point in the tire, for like maybe 200,000 miles. can't see how it would happen when the bike is ridden on twisty roads, the point of contact would always be changing.

Then get them off n order a kit, 3oz in a 300 tire and 2 oz in the front. Some kits have the tube and container to put them in thru the valve stem

Wonder if this stuff sticks to the wheels as well as the tire. If so, it will be a mess changing tires the next time.
