Dumb question about air filter covers

That's what I was originally thinking. I looked at several dealer web sites and noticed that there are a lot of bikes that are set up like mine. I also wondered if it had to do with CA Emissions but my dealer wouldn't be selling another 08 Mastiff with the BD cover if that was the case.Not a 100% but it might have to do with that limited package that you have. I think they produced 125 of those?

Did you buy it new or used? I would think someone changed it out. A lot do. That cover is one of the BEST for air flow. Tried and tested!

I would have to agree, looks like the dealer replaced it for you, maybe was a scratch and dent special?
First I have seen that.
I purchased it new from the dealer. When I look at their web site, about 30% of the bikes on there have the same filter cover as I do.
My bike is carbureted but the cover should not have anything to do with that.

your air cleaner affects the way your engine breathes, and therfore affects performance. I'm not sure if big dog tuned these to run their aftermarket cleaner or not, but I replaced mine with a standard s&s air cleaner, just to be sure. I'd be curious to hear from someone who has dyno'd their bike before and after a similar conversion.
