Drive belt nearly touching rear wheel

Hey all -

Wondering if this is normal and I'd just never noticed or if I need to get serviced.

Drive belt (on right side) is nearly touching the right-side of the rear tire. It's about 0.025 inches based on the micrometer and rudimentary system (sheets of paper) of measurement I used.

Seems really close to me.

Thanks in advance.

When I went to a metzler it actually would scrub and the tire would try and twist the belt slightly. I had to put the bike on the lift, strap it down, start it and let it idle in 1st gear and took a 7" grinder to the edge. It took a couple of thousandths off until the belt and tire cleared.

Mine is very close also. It's no problem unless it touches and it shouldn't if adjusted properly :2thumbs:

If you must - there is a thin 1/16" washer/spacer that is found on the BDM Choppers - this sits between the hub and belt pulley. You can put that on - and re-align the rear wheel. You may run the risk of moving the belt out a tad more than you would like to (on the front tranny pulley) but NO more rubbing for sure.
