Dog Wont Start Need Help

Tried to fire up my 08 k9 with no luck. Tries to crank over then just like a humming noise and thats it. I also noticed a small amount of somke coming from the wiring. Sure enough the negative wire connected to the battery was hot to the touch. Is my starter shot? Or wiring just not right? Battery voltage was perfect.

I'm not a mechanic but just sounds like a loose ground. Did you tighten it and try again. What is the perfect battery voltage?

13.8v and the ground isnt loose. I thought the samething when I saw it throw a little smoke.

Check where the ground connects at the top of the starter. Clean all connections.

Is it fuel injected or carbureted, when was the last time it ran. If it wants to start by don't quite get there is could be fuel issues. Maybe to much fuel and it flooded on you. Try using the Fuel enhancer on the top of the carb provided its Carbureted instead of twisting the throttle 2 0r 3 times. If its fuel injected listen for the fuel pump to come on when turn the key on. Make sure it had gas in too.
