dog marking it's territory

Energy One
Well I got a spot of oil under my bike near the rear of the tranny,I thought it might be the overflow hose but it looks like it seeping from the starter, this area is hard to get at without removing parts.the oil spot is less than a dime in size and only does it after a ride (I believe).Any input would be great

thanks jeff

There is a SB 1105 Mar 08 that covers all 2005 BDM and later, built on or before 14 Mar 2008.

Trans top leaks and the fix is to remove the top and fill the vent path in the trans top with RTV silicone sealant and a new gasket. :bang:

Mine's been marking that spot since I got it. Isn't enough to loose enough fluid to matter between tranny fluid changes.

thanks guys I'll look into the recall, and I checked the fluid level in the primary.I do have oil on stareter but assumedit was splatter.

not enough time 4 riding
When I had problems this time last year with my starter, the spot under my Mastiff was at least an inch in diameter. I would wipe everything off and the spot did not get any bigger, but when I would go out for a ride the leak would show up again. Just part of the teething process for the pup last year (speedo, starter, and tach board), but since the end of last summer no more problems.

I'm betting a bad starter gasket. Unless as Sul said... somebody put in the mis marked 1.5 quarts of oil in it...

Just bought mine, same oil spot issue. I brought it in and they told me the starter was bad and it is a known issue with 06 choppers. They are replacing the starter as I type.
