DOG DIED

Well I think it finally happened to me.
Was riding riding to work yesterday on the I-15 here in Vegas, all was well, and all of a sudden without any warning, died at 70mph.:angry::angry:
All electrical shut down, slight electrical odor.
Though I'm hoping for the best, I think I already know the dog's fate.
As much as I love this bike I think I've had enough of the headaches!:bang::bang:

Had mine do the same thing (although not at 70mph!) and it turned out to be the crimped connector on the red wire going from the battery to the EHC... cheap and easy fix! :2thumbs:

Moral of the story: Find out what the problem is before assuming the worse!

Hey Badog, The same thing happened to me with my 2006 K-9, and also the electrical smell. Take a flashlight and check the topside of your voltage regulator that is mounted on the front of the bike beneath the engine. If it failed the top of the regulator will be all burned up. Good luck.

Yup same thing happened to me, bad voltage regulator. Was riding down the freeway and the bike started backfiring and just stoped. Battery was dead, didn't even have enough juice to fire the plugs. Put in a new VR and runs great. So check that first.

I'M TRYING REAL HARD TO LOVE THIS BIKE BUT SINCE I GOT MY FIRST ONE AN '05 CHOPPER, WHICH BIG DOG FKD UP SO BAD THAT I THREATENED TO TAKE THEM TO COURT IF THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME A NEW ONE AT NO COST, WHICH IS HOW I GOT MY '07, THAT IT'S JUST REALLY FRUSTRATING AS I DON'T HAVE TO TELL ANY BIG DOG OWNERS THAT KNOW THIS ALREADY.
I CAME TO FIND OUT REALLY QUICK THAT BIG DOG'S QUALITY CONTROL WAS US, THE BUYERS, THERE WAS NO OTHER.
I'VE BEEN RIDING 30+ YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH AN ATTACHMENT TO A BIKE.:bang::bang:

SHIT! thats not what I wanted to hear ...well if you do the wire-plus or the PDM upgrade your skoot should be solid ...It's worth keeping, when I look at my Big Dog I see high end quality hardware (axle to axle) it's the electronics that we all know "suck" not all "EHC's" fail, but we all at some point want to do the upgrade ....
