Disc Lock

So I did some research on here and didn't see a lot of what I was looking for on here. I'm thinking about doing a Disc Lock and keeping it in my tool roll when not in use.

Anyone use one? What brand?
Any sponsors carry them?

Thanks!

So far I have always used one on the rear. This coming season I will be putting one on the front also. I do not remember the brand but I got it at a bike show for $20. I think this is a wise investment. One member reported last year that his bike was stolen while sitting in the middle of a large group of bikes at a rally. I think $20 versus all of the possible insurance company aggravation is a good investment.

When I bought my Mastiff, the guy that sold it to me gave me his disk lock. It's a Big Dog lock. Just like you said, I keep it in my tool bag. I put it on when I go to any functions where I don't want to take any chances of theft. I forgot one time that I had put it on, and I'm telling you, you ain't goin nowhere with one of them locked in.

They are quick time protection for a little price. I lock my dog with a big old chain on the rear & a disc lock on the front when she is put in for the night. If nothing else, it's a little extra protection from a fast snatch. I carry it in my pocket when scooting around town & need to make some quick stops. Nothing will stop them if they really want your scoot, but if you can slow them down some it helps.

I have a disk lock it works great but you need to get in a habit to use it all the time. You will never leave it on after take off more than once. I honestly don't use it any more. Like stated earlier it will slow them down but so will this.

Nothing is going to prevent theft including those silly alarms. Any bike can be picked up and thrown into the back of a panel van in a matter of minutes (if not seconds).
But still disc locks and chains will slow them down a bit.
At all the commercial events I go to we will always daisy chain our bikes together. Harder to pick up 5 bikes than one.

i use one and for those of you who forget its on theres alittle thing i do to help me remember,i put a colored rubber band on the throttle grip,i also have a long red strip that can hang from the bar that says remove before lift off, just my:zz2cents::cheers:

I use the Xena disc lock

And when it is off, it makes a nice heavy object to throw
I have the same one, really like it, abit spendy, it was around $80 but worth it, but like Ray says if they want it bad enough they will take it, this one keeps dumbass's from throwin a leg over your ride with the proximity alarm
:zz2cents:

True, it won't stop them buy maybe they'll think twice.

Pig Pen, I keep a Ruger LCP on me, but hard to use it if I'm 1/2" mile from the bike at a BBQ cook off or something, lol.

1/2 mile? Then you also need to carry your 50 cal for those long distance theft deterent shots!!!:2thumbs:

I have the scopio alarm on my k-9, but also use the xena disc lock with a large red "remove before flight" ribbon on the front wheel. The ribbon is (a) a reminder to me (b) visual for anyone considering to screw with my bike thats its locked. But agree with others.....if they want it bad enough, they will try to take it.

Be sure and put something on your handle bars to remind you that that lock is on. My buddy really F his bike up when we were drinking.

I have a disc lock that I quit using as the daisy chain setup is the best all around.

However, I like this idea Xena XX10 Series Alarmed Disc Lock and would like to see this as a group buy at about 25% off.

Remember, visual deterents work very well for the Armored Truck companies. Most will not attempt to steal from the courier when they see he is armed.
THAT is a visual deterent and highly effective.

Most theives are looking for an easy score, these locks help these fucks look elsewhere, and when an alarm goes off, they exit the scene quickly.
