Difference between '03 and 04 Pitbull

Okay - I just bought an '04 Pitbull but the VIN is coming up as an '03? I am thinking it is a scenario of an early '04 on an '03 frame. Bike looks straight..

All that said is there a guide to model differences between years?

Two piece tank is correct, just remember the left filler cap is reverse threads...

You have a 03 design and should look for parts and advice on 03's because in 04 they changed a lot of things. Good luck and enjoy it.

Thank you. Its weird that bike is registered as an 04 - but I chalked it up too it was a motorcycle company in its hayday.

Is there a list of changes? I was looking before I bought the bike so I could figure which years to pursue....

Liferider - so you have an '03 chopper with an '02 VIN?

It was only brought to my attention when I insured it - but it wasn't a problem...

Older style coil cover also. More of an 03 than a 04 imo....probably an end of the year assembly.

I have a 03 chopper with a 04 vin. All 04's have compression releases factory standard. 03 head's were all tapped from S&S but compression releases were an option. my bike has a 04 vin# but my bike had no compression releases and were never wired for any till I installed them.

Okay - So its not unheard of -- cool.

I am just going to ride it and enjoy it while the weather is so nice in the D.C. area...

I am going to look for the compression releases.....

and I am sure have a million questions for you guys (after I search of course). This is a new world for me - I came from sportbikes - last bike was a Ducati Monster. I swore the only way I'd get another bike was if was a Harley/chopper etc.

Thanks....
