Yeap, I ask a lot of questions -----

Those that have or have had the Dakota speedos, do you like them? I would only get the blue but I have seen some folks go back to the original speedos.

Good/bad?

I had the red one awhile back. Didn't like the "retro" Look. Went back to the original.

I switched over because the OEM one was failing intermittently and I really like it. Didn't have to calibrate mine either. I had to go with red to go with my paint scheme though.

what?

i have the red. i got it because my speedometer quit and i couldn't tell how fast i was going. honestly only look at it when doing a speed check if i see a cop.

I installed a Blue one a long time ago and it works great. I didn't have to calibrate it either. I only had to set the mileage. :)

I have the blue I removed my original(fully functional) just because I wanted the easier to read digital display(yes even at 35mph:oldhardlaugh:) I love it and would never go back to the original one

I’ve got the blue, love it and it’s cool. Trip meters, service interval meter are nice features.
Service interval? I only have the A and B trip meters on mine. They add a new feature?

I like the OEM needle look and just wish it had two trip meters so I ended up selling the one on the K9 but I've kept my 04 one it still works and I think the needle is just more nostalgic. I'll only go to Dakota if that one ever fails 18k and counting now after last weekend! Hopefully hit at least 20k on the rigid this year.

Indeed, I’ve got mine set at either 2k or 2500 miles. Haven’t actually seen it work yet, I’m only around 1800 since getting the bike but it’s a nice feature.

yes there is a feature you can turn on.
I'm on my second Dakota -- How do you turn on service interval -- never saw any mention of that.

Got a red one on this K-9 as with last on -- can be hard to see in some light but would NEVER EVER go back the the original.

Are you tired of the same old analog speedometer on your Big Dog? Or maybe you want to set your Big Dog apart from the pack!! Whatever your need, we've got you covered!

Dakota Digital is now offering a direct plug-in and direct fit feature packed speedometer.

System retains stock tachometer ring and integrated indicator lights.

  • BD-140 Blue Display
  • BD-140-R Red Display
  • Speedometer - 199 MPH or km/H
  • Odometer
  • Dual Trip Odometers
  • 0-60 Timer
  • 1/4 Mile Timer
  • 1/4 Mile Speed
  • High Speed Recall
That's the list of features from Dakota Digitals page on the BD replacement model -- I don't see service interval.

Do a search BD140 the second link is the instructions. The only reason i am looking it that 2yrs ago i had an electrical issue the caused me to redo a bunch of stuff. I messed with speedo an now the screen is offset from center. It is anowing. I need to get a set of ssbar struts first but i am looking to replace speedo.
