Crap In My Gas Tank

My bike was shutting off at smart times. It ran fine and idled fine at home. As soon as I got out someplace it would quit. I would sit a little bit and it would run again. I didn't want to, pulled the tank and took 2 hours to get all this crap out. Runs good now. Right now, for some reason, the picture is not appearing.

the tanks have an epoxy lining that is being softened by the ethanol in the gas. same as all of us. you have two options, take out all the liner and leave it bare and take a chance on the inside of the tank rusting; or strip the liner and either have it done or reline it yourself. there are several posts/threads on here that cover this.

OK, thanks. So far I have just cleaned it the best I could. I read the rest of the threads. Don't have any idea why the picture will not work. FINALLY got it to post the photo. After reading the threads, I guess I'll have to pull the tank and completely clean it. CRAP. What a lot of work. Have to use all the gas or drain it I guess and check to see what condition the inside of the tank is right now. Again, this board is awesome in its' help to all of us. Thanks to you all, again.

imho, i would just drain and discard the contaminated gas. no need taking a chance on fucking with the carb and then having to take it off also to clean it. KISS is always the best route.

or you could strain it through something like a diaper and use the gas in the lawnmower.

I used POR-15 on a tank I cleaned after sitting under 10 feet of Hurricane Katrina salt water for 3 weeks. It came out great. I did the gas tank and oil tank. Whatever you end up doing, put an in line gas filter to the carb.

I've heard the POR-15 is good stuff and I have used Caswells to reline my oil tank that got a crack in it and its been holding up great for almost 2 years now with no leaks and no problems.

if you go with an in-line, go with Pingle brand. from what i understand, nothing else flows enough to keep up with the thirst of the dog. :2thumbs:
