Cough, spit and sputter?????

Well it started again, while low on gas???? Like it is a gas cap issue again. Stop for a minute cause I have no choice, fire it up after a minute or 2, drive a mile or so, get 8 bucks worth of gas @ 3.11 a gallon (so it was not out of gas) and the problem goes away. Does cough a little in the mornings even after warming up / 15 min of riding in ~ 40 degree weather. Makes me think that there is shit in the carb/jets??? I do not feel it is electrical....but who knows. I did have the intake seals replaced so there is no leaking there. Just at a loss.:bang:

Sure sounds like a venting problem. My 05 mastiff used to do it and drive me nuts. Harley put a crossover tube on the top as well so the tank could equalize pressure. Big dog has one vented cap and I think it's a bullshit design.

next time it does it... loosen the gas cap.. or even remove and put back on loose... see if it continues.

Plugged up carb. Shit in it!
Could be a coil acting up.
Check your voltage while running, could be the Votage regulator taking a shit as well. Mine did that for a short period before the VR died.

Is this the sneeze thing? Today with the cool weather I had this all day. Just re-placed the plugs before the ride, only done it occasionally for the last couple months but today it was bad and finally sneezed off at a light. Al had just told me I was smoking the last time I hammered it. I know I am running rich and that’s ok with me, I think my problem is the rich and the cold weather?? Either way I am getting tired of it and am thinking of re-jetting…

Could be a Jetting Issue too, Temperature plays a Big role in Carb Performance. You Might be Borderline in warmer weather, GO through the S&S Adjustment proceedure and make sure your within Spec. Coul also be a Combination of a couple problems.

I hear ya, but it did the same shit when it was warm out a month ago.??? Think it needs a cleaning and reset.
