Yes , you have to manually push them down everytime you start the bike, but, they won`t fail , they won`t leak , and they last forever. I have one`s installed on my Harley for 100,000 miles now.

I understand the design of the socket to remove the C/R's.I read on here somewhere that a guy used an O2 sensor socket. What about using an open socket design? :up:

I found these at Dennis Kirk. Not sure which ones are the correct length. I was thinking use these adapters and get 10mm releases to be used in the factory hole. Are the S&S threads a special cut or anything or are they just normal?

Just my .02 about our dogs, get the correct ones and return the 10mm ones if you can, don't use adapters.

What is the correct size for the dog?

Electric compression releases were introduced in 04, 03 dogs were wired for them but most of those had manual releases. IF you have manual ones and want electric ones, you will have to drill the head out.

I honestly don't really know the size...but I believe the electric ones are 14mm and manual are 10mm??? Someone with more knowledge on the size can help out with that.

What i think COOL is trying to accomplish is to go from electric ones to manual ones, hence he wants the adaptors for the releases.....which would then be required. I deleted my last post because I posted before reading the whole thread...sorry...

The ones i just got were electronic and they were 14mm

I found these online and on ebay. Yea, theyre pricey for manuals, but they may be the last ones I ever buy for this bike. Plus, I like the way they look. And yes, I saw it says for RevTech. But 144mm is 14mm if the threads are normal cut threads.

Ive ordered nothing yet. I like to research extensively before a purchase. Ya know, measure twice, cut once concept. Im waiting for some other, far more knowledgeable to chime in and help guide me. Ill contact S&S if I have to. May order them if they have a good return policy.
