Compression release tool needed

They are pretty common tools now and most of your Indy shops will have one. Seems by the time you pay shipping/rent/time you could just take the head or bike down to your local shop and in 10 minutes they can pull them or replace them. That's what I did anyway.
But to answer your question there are a couple members here that own that tool.

Marv, I am waiting on the heads to return from S&S so I will contact you as soon as they get here so don't mail it out yet. When they come in I will e-mail you and see where you are at with your deal and where I am at. Thank you sir. I am just lining up my ducks so when the Jugs and Heads get here I can be ready so thank you and hold that thought until I post again if you would.

I just made my own wrench 1 hr. ago from a deep craftsman socket. I ground down the outside diameter for the first inch so it would clear the fins. It's fairly tight near the head.
Then I took a short extension and ground one corner off so the wires could pass, I also ground a grove in the flat I just cut with the edge of the grinding wheel for a little more room for the wires.
I will wire up the rest tomorrow.
I can take pictures if needed, but it is simple...

im guessing you havent tried this tool yet huh?
doesnt work.
the socket interior needs full width 2 3/4" deep.
the craftsman deep well socket only holds the full width 1.5" deep.
doesnt reach the hex of the release.
been down that road. thats why i have the socket.
also what "fins" are in the way????

Another clairvoyant! Yes I have done it, as the post said, yes it works. I would not begin to diagnose your particular problems with this method.
I will post pictures shortly. It looked like a fin? I did not pull the rockers, so looking from the front of the head with the socket in the hole, it looked like a fin?

i have an extra set here and a deep socket doesnt reach.
unless you bored it out or cut the socket and welded a length of pipe to it.

socket has a deeper well then any of mine.
