My buddy had a lawnmower repair man take a look at the ticking coming from his heads. The result was the silicone covers on the compression releases were ripped out. Bike is starting and running fine, should I go through the hassle of installing new ones?

I just replaced mine when I had my heads off. But I have a question why are they ticking, they are supposed to work momentarly or until you release the starter button. Am I missing something here, I would think the ticking is something else. I could be wrong, I sure would like to know. Let me know if the ticking goes away when you put them silicone covers back on.

Moe,
I'm not sure if the ticking is related but as far as the covers, I would put them on there. They are only like 5 or 6 bux for a set and they'll keep all sorts of junk from getting in there and messing up the way the CRs operate.

Just think of them as condoms, if you keep having sex without them something is going to happen sooner or later.
