Comp Release hook-up: Tell me this idea is stupid and why

Hey you looked, Thanks!

OK, putting the bike back together after paint and have chaffed the EHC and gone with an after-market harness. I'm trying to save a line and a switch (I like clean).

Is there any reason I can't tie the compression releases to the Start circuit?

I figure they just need power to open and then once running they close and the power is off the circuit anyway.

Tell me if this is a dumb idea.

Thanks

That's what I did Chacha, in fact I just ran those wires about an hour ago. I ditched my start button and starter relay, I'm going with a plunger right on the starter, so I wired mine right into the hot post on the starter. As long as the plunger is depressed, my comp releases are open.

Marv is correct, this is exactly how S&S wires them.

Marv, I have not forgot about you. I have ordered some switches and am waiting for them to get here. I'll get you the bypass soon.

Moe,
Check that you DON'T have power going to the compression release green wire at all times. :( Usually the starter + post is hot all the time.

Great idea Chacha, I think I will go that route myself if I can figure out the exact wire to hook them up to. I am now using the Wire Plus set up.

Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the scoop guys...I needed a sanity check on the idea.

(Ya Marv, I know, I'm an idiot for not checking with the S&S mothership first. Thanks for the link!)
