Clutch slipping...Yes or No..??

Something new for me as a new Dog owner?? Need help with this one..
2009, K9 - 117 Stock........riding 40-50 MPH. I open the throttle to pass.. the RPM's continue to climb faster than acceleration of the bike.

At first I assumed a clutch slip problem...but then it occured to me this might be a design feature of the bike regarding the power of the motor compared with the ability of the driveline to handle the demanded acceleration..

This is an assumption...and we all know that assuming can make an "Ass-out-of-U-and Me"

Thoughts Please..Thank you...??

I have a 06 K-9 and had clutch slippage problem from day one. dealer installed two new clutches and then the new easy pull clutch still slipped, the only thing that fixed it was I installed a open primary with dry clutch after I was out of warranty.

Well hell. Now mine is doing it too. 3rd gear up, gas her a bit and the motor spins, the bike slowly speeds up. I adjusted it twice per the tech how to, then changed the fluid hoping that would fix the issue.

Badboy,
Is the clutch slipping in every gear or just one? I had a similar problem with my dog last year, but it would only slip in 4th. Dealer installed a shim behind the clutch basket & everything has been fine since.
Hope you get the problem fixed soon.

Took the bike back to the dealer....clutch arm was too tight...the tech backed the nut off 1/4 turn...no issues. It was slipping in 5th gear at 50 to 60 MPH when the throttle was open to pass a car....since adjusment of the clutch arm...no worries...

Thanks for all the advice...good luck to all!!

May depend on the year of your bike. When I got my 05 PB the dealer said to watch for slipaqge after they put on the G carb and Mean Muthas . He was correct and BD autherized under warrraty a heavier spring.

I think the "synth oil in primary" argument could go on forever. i use it - no problems. bandit even sent me a bottle of the stuff (Spectro) with their clutch.

here is the deal... for 20 dollars they have a heavier clutch spring to handle the torque....you will also need the primary gasket...don't forget to torque the 4 clutch pack bolts to 20ft lbs. debo.. good luck..

I went through 2 clutches on my 09 Mastiff. I was sick of it slipping, so I went with the Bandit. No more slipping. End of story.

You will not get a stock clutch to hold. Spend the 300 and get it fixed with a decent clutch.

Mine was slipping badly. I adjusted the pushrod per instructions found here. I did 1/2 turn out, still slipped but not as bad. I read a post on here about and extra 1/4 turn so I tried it - much better but still a little slip in 6th. Went another 1/16 turn and has not slipped since. :2thumbs:
