Clutch pushrod

I have a 2005 Bull Dog and noticed on another thread that Chacha mentioned the 2005 clutch pushrods were wrong and should be changed - he quoted SB-1065 - excuse my ignorance but I don't know what that means - does anyone have any other info.? should I look at this? can I tell by looking at it if this has already been done on my bike? I have problems shifting into first on a cold start and wonder if this could be the problem.

Many thanks

Thanks Blitz - I've got the redline and i don't think the heim joints are the problem - the lever itself is ok but the first shift is real bad - can kill the engine - as though the clutch does not disengage properly or the plates stick when cold

does anyone know how I look into it?

Ray, they were replacing the pushrods on some of the bikes. They found some to be oversize by about .025 if I remember right.

Thank you gents - what does the pushrod actually do and how do I know if I need to replace mine? are there any measurements I could take?

I guess you would have to see the Service Bulletin for measurements if any. They would be width of rod though.
When you pull in the clutch lever the pushrod provides the movement via the ball and ramp assembly that pushes open your actual clutch on the other side of the tranny.

SB-1065 was for 2005 and some 2006 models. This Service Bulliten was to respond about complaints of Clutch Chatter. I doubt it is related to your symptoms.

If your want to pull your rod (Stop Laughing!) here is the Link to the how-to;

A call to Big Dog with your project number should tell you if the SB was done. I'd vote for a Clutch Adjustment issue...
