Clutch Problems: Got my workout this morning!

So thankfully I didn't make it to the interstate yet but my damn clutch just lost all pull and went slack, I had about a 1.5 mile push back to the house with it. I was able to get it into neutral so I don't know if that means the shifter linkage is okay and it is just the cable or clutch could be completely gone :down: My chopper has a little over 13k miles on it. It actually felt fine until it went slack, no indication of needing adjustment

I haven't had a chance to look at it after pushing it back home, I had to get to work. I will look at it later this evening and get some pics of whatever I may need to open. I wanted to float this here and see if my train of thought was correct among the experts. Thanks Brothers :2thumbs:

Clutch hub nut came loose?

A 2005 sounds like the main shaft if not the nut backing out. Start with the trans number if you start another post, see if tech01 sees that falls within that shaft heat treating process kind of break of the shaft.

My thoughts exactly...being a 2005, no need to run numbers. It has the old shaft in it unless someone updated already.

Same thing happened to my bike and it was the Clutch Hub Nut loose.

I would start with checking the clutch cable, maybe you have good luck and just broke a cable. Then go to the clutch hub nut...which will lead you into the main shaft

Also don't forget about my throttle cable snapping, do you lube your clutch cable? With my bike being 11 yrs old 2003 Chopper, I'm replacing all my cables this winter, if they need it or not. Clutch, and throttle on the big Dog! Replaced all of them last week on the Ultra after that damn throttle cable snapped! It's easy to lube a clutch cable on a week night. Remember preventive maintenance allows for noneventful break downs on the weekends!

Sorry this took so long to update, have been swamped with work and then a little vacation for the 4th. It turned out to be the clutch cable just snapped so will be ordering one here shortly. Thank you all for the help and suggestions.

Good thing it was that and thanks for update, FYI, to check the tranny shaft, just put it in gear and see if you can push the bike
