CLUTCH HELP AGAIN UGH!!!

Ok, clutch slipping in 4th and higher gear..
pulled primary and sure enough the main rod was
loose..tightened and locktite to 100 lbs. per bulletin from 80 lbs.
put all back together drove it and perfect no slipping at all
for about 35 miles...now 4th is slipping again..
I adjusted clutch rod. backed it off a little but have not had a
chance to ride it..
Any Ideas? if the clutch was worn I would think it would
have slipped the first 35 miles after going back together..
I have 8500 miles on the bike...:bang:

did you make sure both threaded shaft and nut were clean?
did you use loc-tite primer?
did you use plenty of loc-tite?
did you run everything together dry to 140+++ lbft. and then remove the nut and apply the loc-tite and then go to 100lbft (probably would be better at 120++)?

I pulled it in at 150 lbs. cleaned everything off and red lock tite to 100 lbs.

how old is the loc-tite you used???? don't know if it can go bad or not.

Pull the primary again, check the nut. I used red locktite and my impact gun, also let it sit a day to cure before adding fluid. FYI- My impact gun is rated @625 FT./LBS at 90 PSI So be careful if you use an impact.

used torque wrench at 100 lbs..

should I put it a lot tighter? 150???

if i remember right one of the "previous members" that worked at bdm stated the internal policy changes were to 150# dry and then 120# with loc-tite. be CAREFUL if you use an impact gun. personally, i would not without a torque stick. i think i read the other day that shaft is rated at 200lbft.

same thing except I went to 120lbs the 2nd time and it still came loose, the last time I did it I did the same 1st step and then loctite and torqued it to 150lbs. Now maybe getting it off might be a problem later on but it has not come loose the last 3500 miles.

Mine was doing same thing. Replaced Inner Clutch Hub, Main Shaft(Baker says if hub nut ever comes loose it could warp shaft so replace) 2 clutches then went to Bandit Clutch

I would go with the 150 lbs torque. If that dam nut and shaft can take 150 I would do it one time and leave it at 150.

I would give it a day to dry, can't hurt.

I haint never used no torque wrench I just hit the darn nut with the inpact turned all the way up and Ive had evry imaginabble problem my motorsickle can have but the two nuts in the primary haint never comed loose
