clutch cable go snap at 7100 miles

Well I canceled a trip the grand Canyon today due to rain and went out with some friends for a few hours and my clutch cable snaps.
Sat for about 1.5hrs in 102 heat waiting for the dealer and when I get to the dealership they say they can look at it now and if they have a cable they will fix it.
I couldn't believe it.
3hrs later I leave the dealer with the bike even clean and ride home.

Hacienda Harley Davidson was great and I was very happy with this kind of service.
I was surprised that the cable went at 7100 miles and the dealer said they have only seen a couple do this.

Yep... doesn't surprise me... that is why I have a spare in the garage as I type.

But you took yours to a HD dealer? They had the part?

My first one went at about 19,000 back in 05. First one ever after 25 yrs of American V-Twins.
Second one still going strong. In that dry heat I would recommend all to lube it periodically.

Hi Ray,

It had been lubed at every service do you think it needs more?

The HD dealer sells big dogs so that why they had it.

I'm thinking about keeping a spare from now on especially if i go out of town

Mine broke at about 8k ... on the hwy ... rode it to the gas station and it suprisingly down stifted really smooth without the clutch cable ... good idea to keep a spare. Going to order one tomorrow ... thanks ....:D :flag:
