Well first off looks good!!

But man you got that dog TIED down!! I have mine on a leash but just through the back wheel, and I cemented in a couple eye hooks into the floor. You got that thing wrapped all the way around? Have you been broken into before?

Firstly, yup, the down tube stickers are gone lol. 2 under the seat and one with the inspection sticker and license info. Does look alot cleaner Ill admit.

We were staying out in the country at relatives. Id only had the bike a cpl weeks so was very anal about things with it. Was imagining someone lifting the garage door and rolling it away. I can remember in school (long time ago) when a kids bike would get stolen. "They'd" take the bike and leave the locked front wheel in the bike rack. Then steal a front wheel off another one. Tadaa!! New bike.

So I run a cable through both wheels and the frame. Anyways, I'm OCD when it comes to security (job related I guess). Also, I try to think "how would I steal that"? Then adjust accordingly.:2thumbs:

I sleep better lol.

I hear ya! Ya I was originally going to mount the hooks in the front of the garage to go through the front tire, but I was on the same thought process removing a front wheel doesn't take much. A back wheel is a much more difficult and time consuming process. I keep the back tied down and the front has a Xena Disc lock with an Alarm. I'm sure its overkill while its sitting in the garage but it helps me sleep and I don't worry about it when I'm not around.

Found a great cleaner here in Wichita. Knipps has a red degreaser that when cut with water and brushed will clean the crap off of the aluminum motor case and transmission case. Spray it on brush it in and wipe it off. I believe Knipps has a website. On my phone or I could find and post it!

The paint guy gave me some ideas to polish the engine. Wet sand with a very fine grit sand paper (1500-2000) with dawn dish soap. wet sand until the black oxidation is removed use gasoline on a rag to wipe off the black off. use a rag with a polish of choice. (Mothers billet) for me.

How about some info on how people clean the pushrod side of the engine... That looks really difficult to get to with any kind of utensil... Bottle brush sounds good for that side...

why worry so much about washing a big dog , cant they get wet?
I wouldn't. Not without wrapping your turn signals, speedometer housing and hand controls. Water gets in and ruins the circuit boards inside. I carry electrical tape and ziploc bags in case I get stuck riding in the rain. There are some pictures of wet ruined circuit boards on this forum. Someone posted a marine coat spray for circuit boards that works.

What product or method have you all found to clean and restore the engine to look decent? In particular I am having trouble getting into the fin area on the jugs and the nooks and crannies. I have ordered one of these polishing kits off of ebay. Has anyone tried it?

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

On my Harley it was pretty easy to clean the black wrinkle. Spay on S100 and hose it off...but I am trying to refrain from using a lot of water on my Big Dog.

Dremel tool with flex attachment and cotton wheel on the end. Pimp Stix too. Wizards metal renew for motorcycles. The one in the bottle not the cotton wads.
