Is it possible to chrome the oil cooler Big Dog Makes? Has anyone done it ? I know its possible to actually chrome it, but would it cause any issues with how the cooler actually works ? everything on my bike is chrome So I dont want a polished cooler.

I put this on my bike, it is aluminum with a chrome shield or cover. Many on here recommened not to chrome the one BDM sales, because chrome will retain heat more than aluminum. I decided to try the Pro one and I have not had any issues with it. Sometimes you have to do your own thing. It is pricy but it looks good.

Carlos, did you have a larger bracket made? I had that same cooler, but my downtubes were too fat (1.5?). BTW there was a guy selling knockoffs on egay for like half that price. That's what I ended up getting, seemed like great quality, I just never got around to making a larger bracket so I sold it.

You should be ok chroming the cooler. It won't cool as well as if you didn't chrome it. But not enough to worry about. You don't need to run a cooler at all. So, I say chrome it!

I had issues with overheating when I first got my bike, so I installed a temp gauge. Shortly after that I switched to HD full synthetic oil, and my temps dropped a full 20 degrees, and I've never had a problem since. I also considered a cooler, but shitcanned the idea. The first summer I had my bike I got it so hot I started blowing oil out of the exhaust on several occasions. I do think that pro-one cooler is the shit, very clean looking and a little smaller than the Big Dog cooler, plus the temp gauge built in. I'd say chrome it, I think you're splitting hairs. How much less is it really gonna cool?
