Chopper Problem....

I need help, I have an 04 Chopper that runs great. but..... I was riding the other night and the rear tire crept over to the left side and in the inner fender, shorted out the blinkers. It melted the wires up to the main harness.

My question is : Can I just buy the rear harness and splice it in or do I need to buy a whole new harness?
where would I get said harness from?

Yes you can just replace the rear. Donna and Derek has them. First you want to find out what is up with the rear tire. Mine had the same thing happen. Rear tire cut left turn signal wires. I added a wheel spacers from the right side to the left. Then replaced the right one with a smaller one. Hopefully your EHC is okay. Take your time and alien the rear tire, also check if the fender moved!

Hey grip, just a heads up. Eric at HDM, with Derek and Donna and wild steed Worx, are two different places. Both are fine for getting parts.

guys, thank you for the response. this is my first big dog, but not my first motorcycle. I did work for Thunder Mountain Custom Cycles in fort collins.... anyway......Thank you Rottweiler, I will check the spacers on the rear axle. When the wires were chaffed the front blinkers were on but no headlight and no tail light or rear blinkers.

rear axle or the rear axle bearings have also been a problem at times in the past. suggest you check multiple things so you don't get stuck changing the harness a second time.
