New 2008 Big dog k-9 ,carb. re-jetted for Vance and Hines 2 in 1 by dealer.
perfect ride home. Re-start following day no problem. Re-start day three used choke, Closed choke after warm up then shut down. Problem steady stream of gas flowing from bottom of air cleaner. It would only shut off by closing pet cock.
probably something simple, but afraid to restart or ride until I know what's wrong.

I wish I had more money.
From the aircleaner or the carb? Maybe the float is full. Either way i'm sure that it is something easy.

that is not a choke!!!!!!!!!!! it is an enrichener. it puts extra gas into the carb. for best results, twist the throttle 2-3 times before you try to crank the engine and forget the enrichener is there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

could be bowl float stuck or could be some trash holding the needle valve open.

Right on Wood!

You got something in the bowl... drop the bowl and clean it and the float up with some carb cleaner.

The carbs needle and seat is not shutting off the fuel to the float bowl.

Remove the air cleaner and with the fuel running, you can try tapping on the carb float bowl with the head of a screwdriver to try and dislodge anything that may be stuck in the carbs needle and seat. This might work so you won't have to disassemble the carb at home to get it to the shop. You'll want to make sure the cylinders don't fill with fuel.

if there is that much fuel getting into the jugs, you're going to have to keep an eye out for gas in the oil from leaking past the rings. contaminated oil doesn't lubricate too good.

Great point Woodbutcher - I should have mentioned that as well. If you smell fuel in the oil, change it and the filter. Seeing how the bike leans to the left on the kickstand and the fuel can drain to the intake manifold into the cylinders. What about draining just the engine crankcase sump area if the bike hasn't been started since the float has stuck? Any problem with an oil return pump priming?

Thanks for all the help. Update restarted bike, ran rough and white smoke from exhaust. Pulled plugs and cleaned them up . . Restart, ran better but still not right less white smoke. Installed new plugs starting and running ok but not perfect. 5 mile ride No Smoke.. Ok to Ride???

Does the carb over flow when the bike is not running like before with the fuel petcock in the on position?

Did you change the oil?

Sounds like you need to get it out on the hwy and open it up and clean it out. You have fouled it up pretty good using that enricherer. You live in Southern Kalifornia and have no reason to EVER use it. Use your throttle lock to maintain rpm while warming up.
Make sure you use your petcock and if it's still overflowing then you need to pull the float bowl and clean it out or you were overflooding it with the enrichener.

Novice here... No more leaking with pet cock on. Started bike again no fuel leaking. Did not change oil. Where to I smell for gas in oil? Type of oil to use and is there a thread on oil change. any special tools required? Can't get filter dealer closed since Christmas. New bike less than 100 miles.

I wouldn't worry about changing oil unless you think it drained a gallon of gas down the cylinders. You will be changing it out in 400 miles so just go get it good and hot and you should be ok.
Make sure you have that new bike on a battery tender. Our sponsor Mad Dog is running a special on them. You manual tells you your battery drains itself 2% per day.
Go to the "How To" section and you will find everything you need on maintenance.

Becarefull on those Kalifornia roads.

Thanks Ray... I captured about 4 ounces from bottom of airfilter during first mishap so hopefully I should be OK. Purchased Battery tender from day one.

I'd still clean out the carb. Last thing you want it to get out to the middle of nowhere and have it happen again. It could strand you.

Doing some reading on this changed out throttle cables recently and got them from a Harley dealer who sold the cables failed to mention they need a bracket for the cable until after I called them frustrated as hell with all the damn slack in the cable. anyways started the bike today and let run for awhile before taking it for a test ride for the cable adjustments. I leave to get a helmet and come out to find the bike smoking. shut it off to investigate to find fuel dripping off the air filter cover. I just cleaned the carbs awhile back and had a new "filter" installed in the carb (fuel pump) by a shop. thinking about pulling the carb apart if needed. any ideas before I pull the bike apart again?? The neighbors probably think I am crazy for as much time as I spend taking things apart on the bike and adjusting them LOL..
